We are a group of white circus artists that have come together in efforts to continuously take action, do work, and listen as people of privilege are called to do. We are committed to continual introspective education so we can better educate others. We are working to curate the resources that have been compiled by educators, community organizers, antiracist policymakers, and other masters in their fields.
This group aims to be a place of education, remembrance, and action. This is a place to move the needle in the direction of progress, where we as a community can have an honest recognition of individuals’ talents, skills, and growth. So that better than we have in the past, we can support artists regardless of race or ethnic background by:
-encouraging circus spaces to grow their practices around inclusivity by practicing more active outreach, hiring diverse staff, and providing scholarships to students from underrepresented communities
-providing space for BIPOC circus artists to share their stories, whether in zoom meetings or video testimony
-challenging the circus business to change hiring practices that overwhelmingly benefit white artists.
