“We would love to meet people who work in a circus institution or organization in Asia and Pacific. Through this platform, we extend the international circus network to Asia, and promote the revitalization of the Asia contemporary circus”
A growing Asian circus scene
Over the past two decades, contemporary circus platforms, festivals and training programmes emerged across East and Southeast Asia. This created the conditions for closer regional collaboration between artists and organisations.
Circus Asia Network is formed
Founding organisations from 7 countries came together to establish CAN as a formal regional network, with the aim of connecting circus communities across Asia and Pacific while giving a shared platform for exchange and mobility.
Today — expanding membership and programmes
CAN continues to grow its memberships, develop shared resources, and strengthen links between Asian circus and international networks.
CAN’s founding members consist of 7 countries, 13 organizations, and 17 delegates. Including Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, and Taiwan.
