Nicki Miller

I am an interdisciplinary poetic artist, educator, writer, and intuitive. Folks might know me as the co-founding artistic director of Only Child Aerial Theatre. My current creative project is hypha.

I found my way to aerial as an actor and have been experimenting with the possibilities of aerial theatre ever since. I have been a resident artist in spaces across North America and Europe; including Cirkus Cirkör (Sweden), the 2016/17 New Victory LabWorks Program (NYC) and Circus Sessions at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre. I’ve choreographed aerial in theatrical works shown at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), INSITU Dance Festival, and the Circus Now: International Contemporary Circus Arts Festival.

I am also an aerialist with an invisible disability and a forever-student of nervous systems. I hold certifications in various applied neuroscience-focused movement methodologies and trauma-informed somatics that inform the teaching I offer with Movement Missing Links. I am also a practitioner of gaga movement language, Nita Little’s Relational Intelligence, and soul tarot.

I also write. My writing about circus and other performing arts lives on CircusTalk.com. My poems are scattered across the internet (mainly on instagram) and in notebooks.

At my essence I am a glamorous dork, a poet, a cat person, a nature lover, a compulsive dark chocolate eater, a student of my body, an artist, and people connector.
