The post offered is that of Theatre Technician commencing as soon as possible. The successful applicant will assist the daily operation and organisation of The Grange Theatre, as well as being a valued creative on in-house productions.
Job Description
The Grange School is seeking to recruit a Theatre Technician Sound Specialist commencing as soon as possible. Working full time, approximately 40 years per week worked over daytimes, evenings and weekends as the theatre/school requires. Flexibility is therefore essential. Time off in Lieu/overtime system in place.
The successful applicant will assist the daily operation and organisation of The Grange Theatre, as well as being a valued creative on in-house productions. Over the last three years, The Grange Theatre has been on an exciting journey transitioning from a School Theatre with community hires, to become a producing house making professional theatre, as well as creating outstanding School productions. The chosen candidate will be joining a small but energetic and ambitious team, with determination to become a key player in the Northwest arts scene.
Responsibilities
To provide technical support to the Grange Theatre and Grange School as required. Working with the Artistic Director and Senior Theatre Technician to assist the smooth operation of the current facilities and support to both the Theatre and School.
The successful candidate will be expected to fulfil the following duties;
Technical Support
Support the Theatre Team on a daily basis with the day to day running of The Grange Theatre
Operation and provision of full technical support for sound and lighting for productions.
Setting up of technical and stage equipment including sets during "get-ins" and "getouts".
Acting as Duty Technician for The Grange Theatre as required.
Point of contact for public hires. Managing The Grange Theatre email inbox.
To assist in the setting up of front of house and delivery of housekeeping at events.
Learning Support
Support the Artistic Director, Head of Academic Drama and Director of Music supporting technically both lessons and extracurricular activities as required

Job Requirements
Essential
Relevant qualifications and/or work experience related to technical support and
stage management;
Knowledge of Health and Safety and other related legislation and best practice;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with adults and students alike;
Highly organised, with good eye for detail and the ability to multi-task and work
to tight deadlines;
Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
Ability to work calmly under pressure;
A flexible approach to working hours. Weekend and regular un-sociable hours will
be required;
Clean driving licence;
Creative, energetic, committed and professional.
Knowledge of digital audio consoles, artnet, QLab
Have proven experience of working in live events/theatre
Desirable
Sound bias desirable
Experience of working in an educational environment;
Experience in PAT Testing
Health & Safety Training
A certificate in First Aid;
Job Responsibilities
Maintenance & Storage
Oversee and maintain technical equipment
Assisting in the general maintenance and upkeep of The Grange Theatre -
including theatre area, foyer and dressing rooms.
Safe Workplace
Working at height safely to set up sound and lighting equipment
To complete the necessary H&S checks for the full theatre services in order for the theatre to operate as a working venue in line with statutory requirements.
Carry out PAT testing of theatre equipment in line with safety schedules.
Responsible for lock up procedures and securing of the theatre
