Job Summary
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Sound No. 1 for our 2026 production of CATS, with sound design by Adam Fisher.
Job Description
This role covers two distinct phases of the production's life:
During the Regent's Park run, the Sound No. 1 will work under the supervision of the Head of Sound, playing a senior operational role within the Sound Department.
Following the London engagement, the successful candidate will continue with the production on its subsequent UK tour, where they will transition into the role of Head of Sound for the touring production.
Applicants must therefore be available and committed to the full engagement across both the Regent's Park run and the UK tour.
Job Requirements
Significant professional experience as a Sound No. 1 on a large-scale musical or equivalent production.
Proven experience mixing complex radio microphone musical theatre
productions.
Strong programming and operational knowledge of digital mixing consoles and playback systems.
Excellent fault-finding and system troubleshooting skills.
Experience preparing or delivering productions for tour.
Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a small team.
A calm, methodical and organised approach under pressure.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with performers, creatives and technical colleagues.
Understanding of the specific challenges of working in an outdoor theatre environment.
A clear commitment to health and safety best practice.
Availability for and commitment to the full contract period, including the complete UK tour.
An understanding and commitment to EDI.
A passion for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.
