Description:Job Description / DutiesWe are seeking a Rental / Retail Manager to oversee day-to-day rental operations, retail sales, inventory control, and customer relationships. This role is hands-on and operational, ideal for someone with experience in live events, technical production, or special effects who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Rental Operations Manage the full rental process from inquiry and quoting to prep, dispatch, return, and inspection Coordinate equipment availability, prep schedules, and turnaround times Prepare and review rental contracts, checklists, and documentation Act as a key contact for touring clients, production managers, and technicians Other responsibilities as outlined by the GM Retail Sales Oversee retail sales of consumables, accessories, and equipment Assist customers with product selection, compatibility, and safe use Maintain pricing, product listings, and retail inventory levels Inventory & Warehouse Maintain accurate inventory records for rental and retail stock Oversee equipment testing, maintenance, and servicing Track losses, damages, and repairs and recommend replacements Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian regulations and standards (e.g., NFPA 1126, NRCan / ERD, TSSA, local AHJ requirements) Verify permits, certifications, and client qualifications when required Promote a strong safety-first culture Customer Service Maintain strong client relationships and support repeat business Resolve issues related to equipment, timelines, or logistics professionally and efficiently Qualifications / Required Skills Qualifications 3+ years experience in rental operations, technical production, live events, or special effects Strong organizational and time-management skills Experience with inventory systems and rental workflows Comfortable working under tight deadlines Excellent communication and customer service skills Assets (Preferred): Will train the appropriate candidate. Experience with special effects equipment (atmospherics, cryo, flame, spark, confetti) Knowledge of Canadian fire permitting and AHJ processes Pyrotechnics or special effects certifications Forklift or warehouse equipment certification Additional Information Competitive salary based on experience Benefits package Opportunity to work on major tours and productions Stable, year-round employment in a specialized industry Salary: 50,000 to 55,000 to start depending on experience Contact Information [email protected] Employer Profile We are a professional special effects rental and retail company supporting live events, touring productions, film/TV, and corporate events across Canada and the U.S. Our inventory includes atmospheric effects, cryo, flame, spark, confetti, and related control systems.
