Job Summary

The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is looking for an experienced Senior Lighting Technician to provide a high standard of technical and production support to the venue, its visiting companies and on tour.

Job Description

As Deputy to the Technical Manager when required, the ideal candidate will ensure that a professional, competent and safe service is provided across all back stage areas, instilling a can-do attitude and problem solving across the team.

They will work alongside the Technical and Deputy Technical Managers to lead the technical team on production work both practical and administrative.

In liaison with the Technical Manager, they will supervise, train and direct the work of the pool of casual staff with particular responsibility to the training and updating of resident junior technicians in the lighting technologies.

They will work alongside the Deputy Technical Manager on the pre- production of the lighting for toured and in-house productions, guiding the lighting team on the fit ups and get outs.

They will provide lighting services for events, stage presentations, orchestral concerts, and small scale black box productions.

Together with the Technical Manager & Deputy TM, they will maintain electrical equipment and the electrical equipment installation of the building to a level not required by certification and oversee the stock and housekeeping maintenance of areas of technical equipment.

In liaison with the Technical Manager & Lighting Technician, they will maintain and PAT test all electrical equipment owned by the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

As "Duty Technician" they will take responsibility during performance for back of house safety and assisting with evacuation in the event of an emergency.

With the other resident technicians, they will share the responsibility for Lighting management and maintenance and film season management.

They will work with the TM to ensure that all aspects of Health and Safety and all relevant working regulations are complied with throughout the building with particular attention to electrical equipment safety.

And support Yvonne Arnaud future own productions with technical support both in the Yvonne Arnaud venue and on tour.

Job Requirements
SKILLS / ABILITIES

Experience in the field of lighting systems in particular the ETC eco system, and production lighting safe rigging.

KNOWLEDGE

Programming & patching, focusing to a high standard, troubleshooting of both intelligent and generic fixtures.

QUALIFICATIONS

No formal qualification necessary as real experience is required, but will be seen as an advantage.

Required.

Participate in Theatre events in the evenings and at week-ends.
