Scenic Carpenters

Ogunquit Playhouse, Ogunquit, Maine seeks experienced Scenic Carpenters for our 2026 Season and Arts Academy productions. Approximate dates of employment vary per position between April and November 2026.

Ideal Candidate: Must be detail-oriented and remain focused in a fast-paced working environment. Professional Theatrical Carpentry skills are necessary.


Job Duties/Expectations include (but are not limited to):


- Work closely with a Scene Shop Team of 12-15.

- Fabricate scenery for all Ogunquit productions.

- Install and test scenic elements and equipment in shop & theatre.

- Demonstrate proficiency in the safe operation of power tools, scenic theatrical carpentry, and theatrical rigging.

- Must be comfortable working at heights and able to lift/carry 50 pounds.

- Experience in welding is a plus.

- Assist load-in/strike as necessary.

- Ability to work overnights for Tech Weeks (typically four 12-hr days) for each production.

- Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude in the workplace.

- Job requires the ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, and bend, stoop, or kneel in execution of duties as assigned.

- Job requires the ability to lift, carry, move necessary equipment up and down stairs in varied lighting conditions.

Typical work week is five 9-hr days.

Position is a W2, $22/hr plus O/T and housing included.

Ogunquit Playhouse will now be offering Health insurance to all employees who are with the company for 120+ consecutive days and work at least 30 hours weekly. Ogunquit Playhouse will cover 75% of employee’s company sponsored Health insurance premium. Dental and Vision insurance will also be available at the employee’s expense. Employees who work the entire Ogunquit Playhouse’s entire season will also accrue Earned Paid Leave up to 40 hours. Eligibility is based on the length of the contract. Shortening the length of that contract may affect eligibility.
