Job Description We are seeking applications from directors for our Summer 2026 season - TWELFTH NIGHT ONE MAN TWO GUVNORS TREASURE ISLAND We are looking for directors who can bring - Creative vision and the energy to deliver these productions in our stunning 600 seat outdoor venue. An inspiring and collaborative approach to lead the cast and work with the production support teams. There is a fee of £1,500. Productions have a very significant budget available. Actors, directors and production crews are unpaid, however Tolethorpe has a dedicated professional Wardrobe team for design and delivery of all costumes, professional Technical Manager to support all shows and a full professional Company Management team to support directors throughout the process. Job Requirements You will need the experience and confidence to deliver large mainstream productions of the highest quality with amateur actors (a good proportion of whom are trained) Ideally, candidates will have experience of directing in outdoor spaces or at least have delivered large scale performances The ability to plan, rehearse and lead your cast through the course with vision and energy - on average, production rehearse for 100-120 hours in total - though assistant directors may be able to deliver some of these for you The ability to deliver a production within budget and to schedule You must have the right to work in the UK. A DBS check will be supplied for successful applicants. Job Responsibilities You will need to work with production teams and staff in a collegiate and collaborative manner, ensuring the 30,000 visitors who come to Tolethorpe every summer, have a fabulous time.
