About the role
First and foremost, this is a guest facing role to support and engage with guests, offering an exceptional experience to each visitor via excellent customer service.
On a typical working day (if you can call it that) you could find yourself helping and interacting with customers throughout the attraction, whether that’s delivering both entertaining and informative talks on our variety of animals, helping the animal care team with feeding demonstrations or generally being proactive with interesting animal facts and answering questions and queries.
Other duties could also include some delivery of school tours, birthday parties and VIP experiences.
A confident communicator you will provide information about the animals within the aquarium, entertaining and educating our visitors and making their journey into the deep a memorable one!
These are seasonal, temporary, fixed term positions to support us during the main 2021 season. Contracts will start from late June and run through to November.
Due to the continued uncertainty regarding the impact Covid-19 may have on our attractions this year, all our seasonal roles will be offered on a flexible ‘as and when required’ basis, as availability of work may vary throughout the season.
About you
It goes without saying that you'll have loads of experience working in a customer facing environment that puts the guests at the heart of everything. You'll be able to demonstrate how your customer service skills are second to none, but you'll also need a flair for entertaining.
Whether you've done a performing arts qualification, been into amateur dramatics or perhaps been a bluecoat/redcoat or maybe it's just that you you're a natural when it comes to interacting with people of all ages, you'll be someone who adds a sparkle to any room and who is comfortable speaking on a microphone and truly entertaining our guests. You will also need to be flexible and highly self-motivated in order to remain focused in this fast paced and fun environment.
You’ll need to have a genuine interest and love of animals and sea creatures and be comfortable talking about them and answering questions.
We offer the following rates of pay;
Under 18: £6.50 p/h
18 to 20: £7.75/hr
21 to 22: £8.36/hr
23+: £8.91/hr

In order to comply with government guidelines, should you be successful in your application interviews may be conducted initially via telephone or video call. If requested to attend one of our attractions for a face-to-face interview, we have hygiene and safety measures in place, and you will be asked to adhere to these.
These will include but not be limited to, social distancing, non-invasive temperature checks, face masks and the use of hand sanitisers.
