Description:The City of Dallas, Office of Arts and Culture seeks qualified candidates for an Electronic Technician (position known in the performing arts / live events industry as a Stage Technician) at Moody Performance Hall, located int the Dallas Arts District. This position provides technical + production support with a heavy emphasis on audio and video engineering and production for arts + cultural events (such as performance, meetings, workshops, etc.). The Electronic Technician is a part of the stage operations staff which reports to and works closely with the Senior Electronic Technician (Technical Director) in the execution of the hall+rsquo;s event production. Many types of events are produced in this venue including theatre, dance, classical music, speaking engagements, bands, choirs, and other events.Duties + responsibilities will be varied and will include learning, operating + maintaining the full audio and video systems, load-in + strike for shows, running various crew tracks during events, (audio console and video projection operation, fly rail, stage management, etc.) and coordinating with vendors + other City departments for supporting services to the facility. This position will have frequent interaction with clients and will be expected to act in a profession + courteous manner always. Other duties include general operation + maintenance of stage + facility systems. The work schedule will vary and will include frequent evening and weekend shifts. Essential Functions - Learning, operating, + maintaining the full and portable performance hall audio and video systems, patch bays, and patch points. - Maintenance of all storage areas and equipment in a clean, well-organized manner. - Research and recommend purchase, when appropriate, of audio and video upgrades of equipment hardware, software, and related items. - Maintains audio and video equipment operations manuals and maintenance schedules. - Operates and oversees hall systems and equipment related to load in, load out, and production-related equipment such as fly rail, personnel lifts, risers and platforms, acoustical treatments, etc. - Oversees volunteer crews and schedules / oversees professional crews as required. - Advance technical elements of productions and assist and advise user groups as requested / required. - Assist City building support personnel in the maintenance of the facility. - Provide excellent customer service to visiting artists, arts organizations, City personnel and the public, while maintaining + communicating venue policies, guidelines, and processes as published. Minimum Qualifications Education: - High school diploma or equivalent AND - Possess a valid driver+rsquo;s license and access to reliable transportation Experience: - Minimum 1-3 years of professional experience providing audio and video support in a professional performing arts or live events setting Preferred Qualifications - Undergraduate degree in Technical Theater, Music, Theater Arts, Arts Administration, or a related field - Experience with digital audio consoles and signal processing equipment and software as well as a working knowledge of patch bay functionality - Experience with audio/visual equipment, networking, and connectivity Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Ability to be resourceful, flexible, and adaptable in response to changing situations. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple projects on a tight deadline. - High level of computer literacy including knowledge in networking. - General knowledge of performing arts best practices, theatrical counterweight systems. - Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills preferred. - Ability to work at heights up to 70 feet. - Ability to lift 50 pounds. - Ability to work flexible hours which will include frequent nights and weekends. - Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to a high standard in a sometimes hectic work environment. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations ships with co-workers, other departmental staff, and visiting artists + arts organizations. - Team player who will thrive in a highly collaborative environment.
