Description:Job SummaryWe are planning a one-off extravaganza in the iconic Alexandra Palace Theatre to give our young people a night they will remember and showcase the range and impact of our work to a large and diverse audience. The artistic vision will be clear whilst everyone will feel their input has been heard and respected. We will feel we are working in a team with you (it will be hard to remember a time before you were alongside us) and we will feel confident that the Showcase itself, and the process running up to it, are highly organised with plans clearly communicated. Working with you will be a growth experience for the whole company. Who will you be working with? The Haringey Shed core team consists of: Rachel (CEO), Jessica (Company Manager) and Ashling (Participation Manager). We work closely together and look forward to co-opting you into the team for this project. You will also work closely with the creative practitioners who lead each of our after-school companies. Each after-school company will perform in the Showcase so ensuring each project lead understands the vision and clearly understands the performance they need to deliver is essential. We will have a live band on stage throughout the event so liaison with a musical director will be an important element of the role. We anticipate short, filmed sections interspersed with live performances through the Showcase so you will need to liaise with the film team and contributors. Job Requirements Experience & Knowledge (Essential): Experience working as director (or equivalent title) in a professional theatre Experience working creatively with young people Experience working creatively with disabled performers, ideally in mixed ability groups Ability to curate a wide range of diverse elements (theatre, film, music, dance, spoken word etc) to deliver a cohesive show Personal Attributes (Essential): Ambitious for young people of all abilities and thrive on the challenge of ensuring all can bring their unique contribution to the stage Team player who enjoys collaborative working Strong communication skills - able to manage multiple competing demands and priorities Highly organised with strong level of administrative skills (confident user of Outlook, Word, Excel) and good time keeping. Desirable: Personal connection with the experiences of our young people and/or with Haringey/Tottenham Job Responsibilities What is the time commitment? Mid Nov - Christmas: Getting to know the organisation, the groups and the leads as well as own planning time. Approx. equivalent of 7 days between mid-November and Christmas. Jan - Feb half-term: Working with the leads in the evening sessions on what the content of the Showcase will be, at this point there will also be office time for film coordination, producing and planning. Approx. 12 days equivalent (mix of working on some evening sessions and having office time too). 16 Feb - 6 March (3 weeks, half-term to Showcase) full time, 15 days equivalent, mix of working full days in half-term (week of 16 Feb), then most evening sessions (Mon-Thurs) and having office time too.
