ZimZam Association

France France, La Tour-d'Aigues
Posted on: July 28, 2024

Description:

Since 2005, the ZimZam association has been developing circus activities related to disability: workshops, courses, stays, shows, awareness-raising, training, events.
The La Bourguette association, manager of 9 specialized establishments spread across the PACA region, welcoming people from early childhood to old age suffering from autism or multiple disabilities, has hosted ZimZam activities on its land since 2011.
Together, the ZimZam and La Bourguette associations expressed the wish to create a unique place in France combining circus and disability.
In April 2018, a permanent self-supporting Big Top was installed on the site of the IME La Bourguette, and brought this great project to fruition: the Circus and Disability Center.
This Center is a place of artistic practice, a place of dissemination, a place of training and a place of artistic creation.
Autism, or more generally autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a human neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulties in social interactions and communication, and restricted, repetitive and stereotyped behaviors and interests.
Description ad
The Pôle Cirque et Handicap is the translation of a common desire of the associations La Bourguette and ZimZam: a structured, ambitious and shared cultural and artistic vision.
The project is here synonymous with openness to art, works, artists, but also with breaking down barriers between audiences, meeting and exchanging.
The goal is to make the project a vector for integration and social recognition of audiences.
Art and culture as they are envisaged in this project, must allow us to question and renew individual and collective practices, particularly in the world of disability.
For the artists welcomed, the objective is to offer them a time of creation in the best possible technical and human reception conditions. Give them the chance to immerse themselves in a project and in a unique place.
Raise their awareness of the interest of artistic work with people with disabilities and their companions.
