Auditions have been announced for Broadway On Tour's summer production of Disney's Newsies, directed by Elena MacDonald and Karie Seasock. This musical, based on the 1992 motion picture, features a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein. It is inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899.

Casting is open to performers aged 7-18. A Junior Ensemble for younger performers (approximately ages 7-10) will be included, and all auditionees will follow the same process.

Auditions will be held on Monday, May 18, at the Ebell Theatre of Santa Ana, located at 718 Mortimer St, Santa Ana, CA 92701. Performers aged 7-12 should arrive at 6:00 PM, and those aged 13-18 should arrive at 7:00 PM. Callbacks will be by invitation only on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

All auditions are open to the public and free of charge; no appointment is necessary. Roles are open to all genders within the specified age range, and no prior experience is required. Actors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

For your audition, please prepare 16 to 32 bars of a musical theatre song. An accompanist will not be provided, so bring recorded accompaniment on a phone, iPod, or MP3 player. Please ensure your song is downloaded, as Wi-Fi streaming cannot be guaranteed. A Bluetooth or wired speaker will be available. Additionally, wear comfortable clothing suitable for dancing, as you will learn a short dance combination with a group.

Rehearsals will take place on two weeknights each week (6:30 PM - 9:00 PM) and on Saturdays (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Not all cast members will be called to every rehearsal. Please come prepared to list all potential weeknight conflicts.

Tech week is scheduled from July 27 to July 30, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Performances will be held at the Ebell Theatre of Santa Ana on July 31 at 7:00 PM, August 1 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and August 2 at 2:00 PM. All cast members must be fully available for all tech rehearsals and show dates.
