DESCRIPTION

The Audio Director is responsible for overseeing the operations of the audio department for productions and all events at the newly constructed Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center. HVS is located in Garrison, NY, and operates under a unique open-air amphitheater, the Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center; more information is available at hvshakespeare.org. This position reports to the Production Manager and the Producing Director.

Responsibilities include:

· Collaborate with the Sound Designers to advance the seasonal rental package.

· Work with the Sound Designers to coordinate a sound plot that serves the needs of the repertory season.

· Work with the Production Manager and Facilities Manager to oversee and execute the hang and installation and load out of the stage grid and related elements.

· Maintenance and repair of sound, communications, and video equipment owned and rented by HVS during the season and maintaining an end of season inventory for all HVS owned equipment.

· Work with Sound Designers and Musical Director to execute high quality designs.

· Generate and maintain any paperwork for the show including written instructions, checklists, and cue lists.

· Supervise and train Sound Run Crew and other members of the audio department as needed.

· Oversee staffing for overhire positions during load-in, tech, and strike, in collaboration with the Production Manager.

· Set up, power on, and strike tech table gear as required.

· Coordinate with other departments such as props to execute designs as needed.

· Work closely with other artists to build a safe, respectful, and anti-racist backstage environment. Display and promote multi-cultural competency and sensitivity.

· This position will be on-site for load-in, tech, previews, and strike for all reperatory shows.

Qualifications:

· Proficiency in Vectorworks or other drafting software.

· Demonstrated skills and working knowledge of technical theatrical practices; experience with wireless microphones including RF coordination and safe theatrical microphone and speaker rigging.

· Proficient in QLab, mixing & programming digital consoles, and digital audio distribution systems such as Dante.

· Complete understanding of backstage etiquette.

· Valid Drivers’ license and clean DMV record.

· Working knowledge of lift usage and safety practices. Comfortable working at heights.

· This position is physical in nature and required to work outdoors. The ability to climb ladders, lifts, and reach above head. Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds and work outside, exposed to the elements.

· HVS requires all staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff will be required to implement HVS’s COVID-19 Safety Plan and follow all health and safety protocols.

This is a seasonal position paid $1400 per week from May 25th through June 20th, and August 3rd through August 16th. Hourly rate of $31 for any work outside of the dates listed. Housing and transportation are provided.
