Benjamin Smith

I am a performer, musician, acrobat and creative director. My strength is my versatility, which enables me to bring highly creative ideas to life from concept to stage. I am best know for my work within Svalbard Co.'s 'All genius All idiot' where I not only stared as the lead performer, but also wrote and performed the live score for the show, and co-created the overall performance.

I started my circus career as a hand to hand base and all round acrobat, studying at Circomedia (UK) and DOCH - Stockholm University of the Arts (SE) before going on to co-found the world renowned circus company 'Svalbard Company'. Our flagship production 'AGAI' toured over 150 times in 28 countries and 4 continents and has been very influential within the European circus sector, known for its wild and liberating performances, its creative integration of circus technique and its multi-disciplinary sensibility.

I still work and perform as a host, acrobatic base and musician, but my main efforts and ambition are toward designing and creating large-scale immersive events and performances; over the last 8 years I have cultivated a powerful collective of artists, producers, musicians, technicians and professionals from around the world and together with them have spearheaded events and performances in Europe and the UK, form gala events to bespoke performance galleries, I hold both the network and the vision to bring events to life that engulf all the senses, creating worlds that are truly inspired and inspiring for everyone involved.
