Job Description
JWP are looking for an experienced Wigs Assistant to join The Devil Wears Prada at The Dominion Theatre, for a fixed term basis to cover a sabbatical in the department. Starting early January, but please let us know if you'd be able to start before that. The ideal candidate will have previous experience on a large scale West End musical, great communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to learn.
The normal show schedule is 8 shows over a 6-day working week. Performances are Monday to Saturday, including matinees on Wednesday and Saturday. The ideal candidate has the ability to work under pressure within a team, good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management qualities to ensure that the production runs efficiently and smoothly.
Start date: Early January 2026 (Exact Date TBC)
End date: Mid March 2026 (Exact Date TBC)
Job Responsibilities
Candidates will require relevant hands-on professional experience in theatre, the ability to work under pressure and effectively within a team, good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management qualities to ensure that the production runs efficiently and smoothly.
Ensuring that all wigs, make up and equipment is maintained to a high standard.
Maintaining, setting up and dressing wigs for performances.
Assist with compiling and keeping up to date cue sheets and other relevant show paperwork including the wigs show running bible.
Candidates should be trained in styling textured hair and have good knowledge and understanding of protective hairstyles.
Experience of barbering is desirable.
Deputising for the Deputy Head of Wigs in their absence and being familiar with all plots and tracks within the department.
Attend any rehearsals or calls and participate in staff/team meetings as and when required.
