Overview

The Wardrobe Supervisor is responsible for supervising all aspects of the wardrobe department, including costume maintenance, coordination of dressers, and running a dressing track on each production.

Essential Functions

Coordinate the care, management, and organization of costumes from the first tech/dress rehearsal through closing/strike in Tucson.
Supervise the load-in of all show costume pieces, including shoes, jewelry, and accessories, from the costume shop to dressing rooms and wardrobe areas before the first technical rehearsal.
Generate and maintain all wardrobe paperwork (preset lists, run sheets, check-in/out lists, laundry/maintenance schedules). Update paperwork created by the Assistant Designer during tech and previews as needed.
Oversee the creation and accuracy of run sheets from additional dressers. Take photographs of presets or quick-change setups for clarity and transition to the Tempe Center for the Arts.
Ensure proper maintenance of wigs and hairpieces throughout the run in coordination with the Wig and Makeup Supervisor and Costume Director.
Supervise and train additional dressers as needed, including swings, and assist in the selection of over-hire dressers with the Costume Director.
Coordinate all quick-change and dressing needs during each production run.
Run a dressing track for each production, which may include prop tracking or scenic changes as needed between quick changes.
Attend designer run rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and note sessions as required.
Manage and maintain stock of wardrobe supplies, tools, equipment, road boxes, and dressing rooms. Submit requests for supply replenishment to the Costume Director at least 3–5 days before depletion.
Coordinate with the Associate or Assistant Production Manager and the Phoenix/Tempe Wardrobe Supervisor for remounting productions from Tucson to Tempe, including packing road boxes/racks and supervising their transport.
Assist the costume shop between show runs and during slower weeks with stitching, crafts, paperwork, online returns, and other administrative tasks as assigned by the Costume Director to fulfill a 40-hour workweek.
Participate in strike, including cleaning/laundering, restoring rented pieces, and restocking shows after the Phoenix run alongside the Assistant Costume Designer and other shop personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Experience in dressing and wardrobe crew work, including quick-change coordination.
Demonstrated experience in costume construction and maintenance, including repairs and alterations.
Knowledge of basic laundry and fabric cleaning techniques and supplies.
Ability to safely operate domestic sewing machines and costume maintenance equipment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and cloud-sharing platforms.
Ability to work inclusively and communicate using neutral, positive language regarding people, body types, hair types, skin tones, and genders.

Preferred Skills
Effective communication and collaboration with costume shop staff, designers, directors, and performers.
Ability to multitask and transition between different shows or roles within the same day.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Strong attention to detail, accountability, and time management.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Basic knowledge of wig construction and maintenance.
Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, crawling, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
Availability to work nights and weekends; workdays may be long and require extended periods of sitting or standing.
Short Phoenix residencies required based on production schedules.
