ABOUT US

SOME LIKE IT HOT is the hit theatrical stage production of the acclaimed 1959 Billy Wilder film. Featuring a book by Tony® Winner Matthew Lopez and Amber Ruffin, score by Tony® Winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and direction and choreography by Tony® Winner Casey Nicholaw, SOME LIKE IT HOT opened to wide acclaim on Broadway in December 2022.

Set in prohibition era Chicago, SOME LIKE IT HOT is the glorious, big, high-kicking story of two musicians on a life-chasing, life-changing escape from the mob. The winner of 4 Tony Awards®, the Grammy Award® for Best Musical Theater Album, and named Best Musical by the Drama Desk, The Drama League, and the Outer Critics Circle, SOME LIKE IT HOT will launch a North American National Tour in 2024 and a West End Production in 2025.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Star Dresser works with the wardrobe department to safely and consistently run, move, and maintain the star dressing track and other costume elements on the Some like it Hot First National Tour.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Safely run the star dresser track for the show, under the supervision of the Wardrobe Supervisor and Production Stage Manager. This includes the pre-set for the show and all the cues during the performance.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Dressing Cue Tracking Notes

- Maintain & repair show costumes to the highest standards

- Assist in managing local union wardrobe crew at each show stop.

- Assist in the packing and load in of all costume-elements of the show between tour stops.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS

- Familiar with Backstage Work Environments and terminology

- Solid fundamental knowledge of costume construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning

- Self-motivated, team oriented and highly collaborative work style

- Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and problem solve in a high-pressure environment

- Ability to work efficiently within given time constraints

- Able to sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach and bend

- Able to climb stairs multiple times throughout a work shift

- Able to carry up to 50lbs

- Detail-oriented, willing to complete both complex and repetitive menial tasks with exacting precision

- Frequently required to use repetitive hand motion

- Technical Theatre experience, specifically national touring experience is a plus

- Willing to work an 8-show per week schedule

- Must be able to work around loud sounds and flashing lights

- Good computer skills (Mac and PC) are a plus.

SALARY: Base Weekly Salary: $1,650 + All Applicable Overtime Per S.E.T. Pink Contract

BENEFITS: Per IATSE S.E.T. Pink Contract

TRAVEL & HOUSING: Per IATSE S.E.T. Pink Contract

START DATE: November/December 2025
