Description:
TheaterWorksUSA is seeking a qualified Head Audio/Carp for its upcoming touring production of Dog Man: The Musical. The production will travel across the United States and Canada, performing at various theaters and concert venues. This role requires a skilled manager who can lead and supervise a variety of local crews to ensure technical elements are executed safely and efficiently.
This position reports to TheaterWorksUSA’s New York-based Technical Director (not traveling with the production). The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated and able to operate independently.
NOTE: This is a touring position that crosses the U.S.-Canada border.
A valid U.S. passport is required and must be valid through June 14, 2025.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a manager, department head, or supervisor in a theatrical environment
REQUIRED: Valid U.S. Passport (must not expire before June 14, 2025)
Valid U.S. Driver’s License (any state; must not expire before June 14, 2025)
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and draftings
Experience mixing audio for theatrical musicals
Familiarity with theatrical audio equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
Moderate carpentry and/or stagecraft skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to multitask
Ability to stay composed and perform well under pressure
Knowledge of fly systems and theatrical rigging
Experience loading and unloading box trucks safely
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working on ladders and motorized lifts up to 25’ off the ground
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee scenic and audio load-ins and load-outs at each venue
Advance with venues no more than 30 days prior to performance dates
Ensure compliance with TheaterWorksUSA safety and venue-specific policies
Maintain and refurbish scenery, props, soft goods, and other production assets
Mix the audio for all performances
Collaborate with the Production Stage Manager on technical planning and logistics
Implement creative and technical notes during rehearsals and performances
Participate in pre-production and post-opening production/management meetings
Coordinate with Stage Management, the Head Electrician, and the main office to maintain a cohesive touring team
Monitor labor use and spending to stay within budget
Share driving responsibilities in a company-provided passenger vehicle to each tour stop
