Zomer van Antwerpen (Summer of Antwerp) is an exuberant, multidisciplinary summer program that reflects the diversity of Antwerp. From mid-June to the end of August, we present a wide range of art forms such as music, circus, theater, dance, and unique events. Location-based work is central: we utilize surprising and unconventional places in the city and look for innovative presentation forms that give Zomer van Antwerpen a unique character. Our summer bar and circus tent also play an important role in this, with a continuously varied program and technical challenges.During the summer, a team of approximately 6 employees works on the productional and technical realization of all projects. In addition, we call on temporary employees, freelancers, and other external forces to strengthen this team. You will be part of this technical pool and will be deployed at various locations and projects, depending on your experience and expertise. We are looking for technicians and craftsmen who are flexible and want to contribute to the special character of our summer operations.WHAT WILL YOU DO? Depending on your profile and experience, you may be deployed for:Technical setup and dismantling of performances, installations, and circus tents.Support for lighting, sound, or rigging setups.Assisting with complex changeovers between different companies in the summer bar and at other locations.Small repairs and technical interventions during performance periods.Assisting with power supply, cable routing, and general infrastructure.Performing carpentry, electrical, or plumbing work (for craftsmen).Preparing, maintaining, and managing materials and installations.Collaborating with artists, company technicians, set designers, and other staff to support their technical needs.Working according to safety regulations and contributing to a safe working environment.WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? We are looking for various profiles – both versatile technicians and specialized craftsmen. Freelancers are more than welcome to join our technical pool. You recognize yourself in one or more of these points:You have technical experience in performing arts, events, or construction.You are familiar with lighting, sound, rigging, or general event technology.Or you are a craftsman with skills in carpentry, electricity, plumbing, or other technical domains.You enjoy hands-on work and tackle problems independently and practically.You communicate smoothly with artists, staff, and suppliers.You can work in a team AND you can follow instructions accurately.Safety is your priority.A European Safety Passport, VCA certificate, forklift license, or aerial work platform certificate are advantages.A B driver's license is a plus.We are looking for both short-term assignments (a few days) and longer-term engagements (a few weeks or the entire summer). Freelancers are also encouraged to submit their availability.
