We live and travel together, we work hard and play hard. We want the people joining us to be living and breathing the lifestyle with us. We see this role as part of our touring crew and production team. Reporting directly to the Technical Manager but also working with the other departments; rigging, site crew and stage management. It is a hands-on role that requires someone who has a passion for making things happen and being part of breath-taking productions. Main Responsibilities: Technical: • Working with the Technical Manager, have a leading role in get-ins, maintenance and strikes. Safely undertaking aspects of the rigging of LX, SFX and AV equipment • The ability to operate LX/SFX/AV during performances where needed and to be a part of the stewarding team during showtimes otherwise • To be a part of the technical team that maintain and inspect the technical equipment both on the ground and rigged in the air, reporting any issues to the Technical Manager • To assist in the fixing and repairs of any technical equipment as and when is needed, be that during the working day or as an emergency fix during a performance • Any other duties the Technical Manager and Production Managers may reasonably require Site and Crew: • To promptly record and communicate any issues with any systems to the relevant Head of Department • To attend regular crew meetings, bringing with you any jobs and updates in relation to the technical department • Being a part of the general crew team, helping and supporting others when your job list is lighter • Working with the Technical Manager, Head Rigger and Tent Supervisor to assist them with their workloads and help to oversee the continuous monitoring and maintenance of the tent, the site, rigging and equipment • Social media support through contributing relevant content to the bank, as run by the Marketing department in Cardiff Role overview This is a freelance touring fixed-term position. Dates: CARNATION tour 10 March 2026 - 29 Septmeber 2026 Application deadline: 1 March 2026 – will close sooner if right person is found Salary: £550 per week Other: Travel to be covered when in relation to the role Meals provided, 1 or 2 a day dependent on schedule Bunk wagon room can be provided if no live-in vehicle is available to you Requirements:Essential• A genuine interest/passion for touring circus and the lifestyle that comes with that • A solid background in the set-up and use of technical equipment related to live productions either through experience or qualifications • Ability to prioritise and efficiently self-manage own workload • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding environment • A reliable team player and willingness to get stuck and join other teams • Confidence in manual handling and working at height, setting up equipment both on the ground and in the air • A desire to work both on a creation process and the tour • Ability to interpret technical drawings and SFX/LX/AV plans • A basic understanding of safe working practise and risk assessments • A strong and clear communicator • Valid passport and the right to work in the UK Desirable • Strong experience of using moving lights, QLab and knowledge of TigerTouch and MIDAS desks • Have experience of working with a touring theatre or contemporary circus company • Fully understanding all up to date health and safety • Previous experience in a technical position in a touring circus or theatre production • Additional skills or experience in areas such as carpentry, rigging, safe loading of trailers, HGV driving • A clean full driving licence ideally with additional driving qualifications e.g. HGV/towing • Ability to use CAD or Sketch-Up • An experienced or IRATA qualified climber/rigger • Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language (in particular, French or Welsh as well as English) • First aid accredited Additional Information:To apply please send a CV and covering letter with the subject title 'Technician Application' to [email protected] by 1st March 2026
