Description:

The Arts and Production Department is responsible for Cirkus Cirkör’s touring productions, new creations, and events, including artistic development and research, production processes, tour planning, and sales to presenters both nationally and internationally.

We are now seeking a technician with advanced circus rigging skills.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a technician specialised in Rigging, you will play a key role in ensuring that all Cirkus Cirkör productions – on stage, on tour, events, labs, and in creation processes – are executed with technical precision and uncompromising safety.

You will work closely with creators, artistic teams, and production and technical staff to design, implement, and maintain safe, innovative rigging solutions that support our artistic vision. The position combines hands-on technical work, artistic collaboration, and high-level safety responsibility.

The Head of Art & Production will be your immediate line manager.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Rigging & Technical Implementation
- Design, assess, and install rigging systems for creative processes, training, rehearsals, productions, events, and touring shows.
- Conduct structural and load assessments to ensure safe anchor points and system integrity.
- Draft rigging plots, load tables, and technical documentation.
- Lead technical and rigging operations during rehearsals, training, labs, and performances.

Safety Leadership
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and legal requirements for working at height and circus rigging.
- Perform regular inspections of rigging equipment, PPE, and aerial apparatuses.
- Document risk assessments, safety reports, and incident logs.
- Contribute actively to Cirkus Cirkör’s internal safety routines and safety development work.

Production Collaboration
- Work closely with creators, artistic team, production and technical staff to translate artistic ideas into feasible technical solutions.
- Support the development of technical riders, budgets, schedules, and touring documentation.
- Maintain and service rigging equipment, scenic elements, and specialised apparatuses.
- Provide technical expertise for productions and events, and venue assessments.

Touring & Venue Coordination
- Conduct pre-tour technical evaluations of venues, including feasibility and safety assessments.
- Act as a liaison between Cirkus Cirkör and venue technical teams.
- Oversee safe and efficient load-ins, installations, rehearsals, and loadouts.
Support stage management and production operations as needed.

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS
- Deep understanding of the technical, operational, and safety requirements relevant to the practice of circus arts.
- Advanced circus rigging competence: dynamic loads, aerial systems and specialised equipment; experience with truss/hoists/winches/pulley systems and rope access techniques.
- Strong ability to read technical drawings/ground plans/rigging drawings and carry out load calculations and structural assessments.
- Strong safety competence (work at height, fall protection and rescue procedures) and knowledge of relevant safety standards in circus/live entertainment; committed to a strong safety culture and best practice.
- Experience from circus, theatre, live events or touring productions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across artistic, technical, production and administrative teams; able to represent the organisation professionally.
- Responsible, independent and solution-oriented; able to adapt to changing production needs and creative processes.
- Organised and practical: logistics, storage and equipment maintenance.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Driver’s licence (B).

DESIRABLE
- Swedish and other languages.
- Experience in AutoCAD.

Additional Information:

This is a fixed-term position for 1 year at 50%, with the possibility of extension.

We work with trust-based working hours. Evening and weekend work and travel occurs. Your main workplace is Cirkör House in Alby (Stockholm, Sweden).
