DARKFIELD create new innovative work at the forefront of technology and theatre: Immersive experiences in shipping containers that use binaural 360-degree sound, complete darkness and a variety of sensory effects to situate each audience member at the centre of intense, evolving narratives.
Job Description
DARKFIELD will be bringing two container shows to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025, located outside Pleasance Dome and
Summerhall. We are looking for Technicians to help support the run.
THE ROLE
Within your shift, you will be operating one of our shows lasting up to 30 minutes in length. You will be using Qlab to run the
shows and operate any special effects depending on the show. Previous experience with COGS is also beneficial, but not
required.
You will also be responsible for the show turn-over, resetting the show technically and getting the set physically ready for the
next audience. You may need to brief the FOH on their briefing, and you will work closely with them to manage the audience.
You will be expected to be able to carry out occasional troubleshooting with the support of one of our Technical Managers.
We're looking for confident technicians, who are fast learners and self motivated, and take pride in the work they do.
AVAILABILITY & FEE
DATES: 30 July - 26 August 2025
PAY: £15 per hour
SHIFTS: Shifts will be available everyday and will be broken up into blocks depending on the day and people's availability.
Longer days: 10:30 - 22:30 (broken up into 2-3 shifts)
Shorter days: 10:30 - 21:00 (broken up into 2-3 shifts)
You do not have to be available for all the dates - we understand people may only be at the Fringe for set periods of time. We
welcome everyone to apply, but will prefer applicants who can take on a minimum number of days throughout the Fringe.
