YOUR MISSION
Reporting to the Company Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the show’s technical operations, planning and budget management. More specifically, you will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks in close collaboration with the Artistic Director and Operations Director;
· Manage and supervise daily operations of the show technical department, including scheduling, coordination, and communication of activities with the artistic department, technical Heads of departments (HODs), company management, and Cirque du Soleil Partner Operations Support team;
· Manage permanent and temporary Technical Department staff;
· Prepare and manage the technical show operating and capital expense budgets; monitor labor and materials expenses;
· Plan and coordinate equipment maintenance, modifications and/or acquisitions;
· Update the preventive maintenance and inspection program as well as equipment installation and operating procedures;
· Direct the technical HODs in compliance of corporate safety, documentation, maintenance, training, and inspection policies and practices;
· Manage the updating of technical documentation and ensure that technical specifications are observed;
· In close association with the Artistic Director, ensure daily and long-term operations are carried out in an effort tomaintain show artistic quality and equipment durability while providing a safe environment for artists and crew members;
· Carry out all required duties expected of a director on site (Director on duty shifts, meetings, reports, marketing representation, etc.).
General
· In collaboration with the Artistic Director, supervise the integration of new technical features in the show and support renewal projects;
· Keep and archive maintenance logs and records;
· Participate in all meetings related to the position, including but not limited to; head of department meetings, forums, planning and project meetings as well as corporate meetings;
Human Resources
· Lead the hiring process for Technical Department working with the Company Manager and participate in the integration, training, and development of members of the team;
· Work in collaboration with the Human Resources Department to identify crew for succession planning purposes and deploy coaching, training, and development plans;
· Thoroughly evaluate all direct reports and supervise the evaluation of all staff done by heads of department;
· Oversee workforce planning for all Technical Department staff, together with the Company Manager;
YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE
· College-level diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment or theatre production (or equivalent work experience);
· A relevant combination of academic background and professional experience will also be considered;
· Ten years’ experience in show business technical management;
· Strong experience in budget and personnel management;
· Fluency in spoken and written English is essential;
· Knowledge of Spanish an important asset;
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
· Ability to be a positive motivator and leader for the technical team;
· Organized, self-motivated and tenacious in dealing with a large quantity of daily time critical requests.
· Availability to work full time in Mexico.
