Job Summary
Avalon are looking for a Technical Swing to work on the UK tour of Operation Mincemeat. Still enjoying a phenomenal run in London’s West End, Operation Mincemeat is now also on its first national tour and has an exciting opening as part of the touring technical team.
Job Description
The Technical Swing will have a Stage bias, and will work closely with the Stage Management, Lighting and Sound teams, touring company, resident crew, and visiting crew, in establishing and executing the needs of the production.
The ideal candidate will have experience of touring large-scale theatre shows, ideally musicals, and the ability to maintain a strong practical understanding of various stage plots. Experience with performer flying would be beneficial.
Key responsibilities include:
To support the technical Heads of Department in equipment cleaning and daily checks, to ensure equipment is in fitted and in working order for each performance.
To ensure that work materials and technical equipment are kept in a tidy and secured manner.
To report any faults to the relevant Head of Department and assist in resolving any issues as required.
To learn and maintain a strong practical understanding of all technical stage plots, and to run technical plots during performances as required, to ensure the smooth-running of the show.
To instruct venue crew where necessary.
To support the touring team in ensuring all areas and equipment adhere to health and safety regulations.
Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all departments, such as within the Stage Management team, Sound department, Lighting department, as well as the Performing Company, Wardrobe, and Music departments, to ensure the smooth-running of the show.
Attend technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
To support and assist other departments where required as an active member of the touring team.
Comply with the Manager's Health and Safety and other policies at all times.
Attending rehearsals and all show calls and maintenance calls as required.
Responsibility for loading and unloading the wagons as required.
Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the production.
Job Requirements
Essential experience includes:
Strong experience of load-ins and load-outs on a large-scale touring production.
Experience and an understanding of stage & show running etiquette.
Leadership and ability to work under pressure.
Start date: Ideally w/c 2nd March 2026
End date: Saturday 28th November 2026
Salary: Dependent on Experience
