Basic Job Description:

A Circus Arts Camp Coach is a part of the coaching staff team at Synapse Circus Center, focusing on instructing students ages 7-17 in multiple disciplines (balance, juggling, aerial, and acrobatics) over the course of a week. Coaches are expected to spend three to six hours a day, five days a week with students and thus are required to have good classroom management skills. Coaches are expected to be passionate about teaching and communicating skills to others. They should also either already have or be willing to learn a solid understanding of skill progressions with an emphasis on safety, positivity, and small steps to success.

Projected Responsibilities:

-Be on time and prepared for all your assigned classes. Identify yourself as a coach by always wearing your staff gear. Be there to greet your students at the start of each class, on time! Know what you are going to teach and how you are going to teach it. Request and attend all training when needed.
-Ensure your assigned classes are covered when you are unavailable to teach them.
-Take attendance each week through the online system.
-Adhere to Synapse Circus Center’s policies, objectives and rules as stated in the employee manual.
-Support Synapse Circus Center’s mission and vision
-Coach classes with an emphasis on safety, positivity and small steps to success
-Follow curriculum and weekly rotation. Evaluate your students each session and track their skills within the system.
-Present a high level of professionalism
-Prepare for each day’s classes before teaching
-Communicate with other coaches teaching at the same time as you maintain flow throughout the gym and rotation use of the equipment
-Communicate with the head coach concerning needs, challenges and student progress

Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

-Some experience coaching circus ideally, gymnastics is acceptable.
-Some experience working with larger groups of children is preferred.
Will train the right person.
