PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER
Short Play Festival – Strongbox Theater
East Rockaway, NY

Strongbox Theater is seeking an experienced Production Stage Manager (PSM) for our upcoming Annual Short Play Festival, taking place June 2026 at our newly opened venue in East Rockaway, NY. The ideal candidate is a recent college graduate looking for an opportunity to break into the business. Rehearsals will be split between Long Island and Manhattan.

The festival features multiple short plays produced in-house, working with a rotating group of directors, actors, and designers.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all stage management operations for the festival
Coordinate rehearsal schedules across multiple productions
Attend/run rehearsals in coordination with the assistant stage manager
Create rehearsal reports (to be distributed to the production team)
Run production meetings and create meeting reports (to be distributed to the production team)
Maintain prompt books and production paperwork
Call cues during performances
Supervise the assistant stage manager
Supervise any technical/run crew
Serve as primary liaison between directors, designers, and producing team in conjunction with the production manager
Qualifications:

Previous stage management experience required (festival or multi-show experience strongly preferred)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience calling cues in an intimate performance setting preferred
Collaborative, calm, and solutions-oriented
Schedule:

Rehearsals begin: May 5, 2026 (First Read-Through)
Tech week: June 1, 2026 – June 5, 2026
Dress Rehearsals: June 6, 2026, and June 7, 2026
Performances:
6/10/26 – friends and family preview
6/11/26 – vendor preview
6/12/26 – opening night
6/13/26
6/14/26
6/19/26
6/20/26
6/21/26
6/26/26
6/27/26
6/28/26 – closing night/strike
Evenings and weekends required during tech and run
Compensation:
