Looking for a theatre opportunity that you can call home year-round? New Theatre & Restaurant, a premiere dining and entertainment company located in suburban Kansas City, is seeking a full-time Resident Stage Manager. This crucial role works side by side with the Director to ensure that rehearsals and performances run smoothly. The stage manager facilitates communication across all creative and technical departments.
Ideal candidates have the following qualities:
· Valid Actors Equity Membership
· Bachelor’s degree in Stage Management (*or equivalent training)*. MFA preferred.
· 2 years minimum experience as a member of an AEA Stage Management Team
· Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent communication and organization skills.
· Maintain a positive attitude while fostering a collaborative and safe workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain the artistic intentions of the director and the theatre after opening, which includes giving notes and calling rehearsals when necessary.
· Regular checks of the set, costume, props, lights, and sound each performance.
· Schedule rehearsal, performance, and outside calls in accordance with Equity’s regulations.
· Ensure that understudies are rehearsed and prepared. In the event of an understudy going on, schedule and run a put-in rehearsal for the understudy and coordinate with production and FOH to ensure that the transition is safe and smooth and that all needs are met.
· Establish and maintain a prompt bookfor the actual technical and artistic operation of the production.
· Write and distribute daily rehearsal or performance reports detailing the events and needs of the day to each production department and key administrative staff.
· Maintain smooth, calm operation of productions during tech rehearsals and performances.
· Creates a master technical list to include props, fast change, sound, electrical/special effects, and any other pertinent backstage information list.
· Assumes active responsibility for the form and discipline of rehearsal and performance; and manages the technical running aspects of each performance.
· Keep records to advise the Producer on matters of attendance, time, welfare benefits, or other matters relating to the rights of Equity members.
· Maintain compliance and recordkeeping standards as provided in the Equity Constitution, By-Laws and Rules where required.
· Leads production meetings with Director and Production staff, as necessary.
· Prepares the rehearsal hall by taping out the floor;
· walks the set with the Technical Director and Designer to determine problems to be addressed before allowing actors on the set; sets preliminary spike marks on the set for the lighting focus; and sets up the dressing room areas and assigns dressing room spaces.

Pay: $49,500.00 - $61,000.00 per year
