Job Summary
Under the direction of the Technical Manager (Stage), the Senior Technician (Stage) will take a lead role in overseeing the technical operation of the stage department. You will bring specialist knowledge in stagecraft, rigging, and flying systems to support the delivery of world-class productions.

Pay: £40,380.53 per year Hours: Averaging 44hrs over 6 Days a week on an annualised basis Will include frequent evenings, weekends, and bank holidays Location: Fully onsite at Birmingham Hippodrome Contract: Permanent Under the direction of the Technical Manager (Stage), the Senior Technician (Stage) will take a lead role in overseeing the technical operation of the stage department and all associated infrastructure. The postholder will bring specialist knowledge in stagecraft, rigging, and flying systems to support the delivery of world-class productions and events. The Senior Technician (Stage) will act as a primary point of contact for all stage operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, particularly LOLER and PUWER regulations, and overseeing the safe use of stage machinery and flying systems. The postholder will also deputise for the Technical Manager (Stage) and collaborate closely with other technical teams to deliver a safe, efficient, and artistically excellent working environment.
Job Requirements
ABOUT YOU: We're looking for someone with extensive knowledge of stage and rigging systems in a theatre/live events context, with competence in LOLER and PUWER compliance. You'll need experience in counterweight flying, automation, winches, truss systems, and safe working at height. You will have supervised technical teams and led get-ins/get-outs, with the ability to lead under pressure and demonstrating a calm, proactive, flexible, problem-solving attitude.
