Show Lighting provides lighting designs for all areas our guests see when they enter our parks. This includes lighting for attractions, retail spaces, restaurant spaces, display areas, landscape, facades, and area development. The staff of the Show Lighting Department interface and support other WDI divisions as well as departments within our parks including Creative, Architectural, Engineering, Show Art, Show Ride, Park Operations, and Park Maintenance. Through the medium of light, it is the mission of the Show Lighting Department to create highly entertaining environments in which the magic of each Disney story is possible.

The Senior Show Lighting Designer, Fixture Specification Specialist supports lighting designers in research and specification of light fixtures on multiple design projects.

You will report to the Mgr-Show Lighting Design.

This is a Project Hire without any guarantee of permanent placement.

What You Will Do:

Write fixture specifications and create cut sheets.

Support database entry of specifications and design documentation.

Participate in the research and testing of light fixtures.

Participate in procurement of lighting fixtures and show lighting supplies.

Must be willing and able to travel and/or relocate internationally.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

5 years of experience in a related professional environment.

Proven ability to work on multiple projects and drive results.

Familiarity with lighting design.

Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs.

Strong typing and data entry skills.

Excel in high pressure environment with strict schedule deadlines.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Able to work well independently and in groups.

Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Domestic and International travel required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Experience and background in theatrical lighting design.

Experience with and technical knowledge of theatrical light fixtures, theatrical controls, and LED lighting fixtures and their power/data equipment.

Strong knowledge of theatrical and architectural lighting fixture manufacturers.

Strong knowledge of new and developing technologies in lighting.

Education:

Bachelors degree in Theater, Art, Design, Architecture or equivalent work experience is required.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $105,100.00 to $140,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
