Giffords Circus is seeking musicians for the 2020 season. We are a travelling circus performing around the village greens and palace parks of the south west to over 100,000 people a year. We go from Stroud to London and back again.
We will be playing and devising a score based on the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland.
We are looking for a fiddle player and a pipes/whistles player, especially border or Uilleann pipes.
You will be an integral part of the whole show; an energetic and enthusiastic approach to performance is a must.
The season will be from 9th March until 28th September 2020, including four weeks rehearsals at full pay. You will be performing in an international troupe of jugglers, contortionists, acrobats, horses, clowns and running ducks in a 600-seat tent you have helped put up yourself. Accommodation provided in the form of a circus wagon. All meals are provided during rehearsals.
There will be opportunities for further work with us both in future seasons and in the off period in between.
