Job Summary
We are looking for a Scenic Carpenter to join the National Theatre Workshops Team.
Job Description
The purpose of this role is to create the sets and scenery for the shows and projects produced at the National Theatre, bringing the creative team's vision to life. Also, to interpret technical drawings, manufacture, modify and repair scenic elements using a wide range of techniques, tools and materials to the highest standards, whilst working alongside the ethos of the Theatre Green Book and following necessary safety processes. Finally, to collaborate with other departments within the Workshops team, Production Managers and Stage teams.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Significant professional experience of carpentry in a busy workshop and theatre environment
Significant professional experience of working onstage on fit ups and during technical sessions
Advanced construction knowledge and strong technical ability in appropriate woodworking and joinery skills, specialist methods and techniques
A thorough understanding of health & safety in a busy workshop environment and onstage
A good awareness and commitment to sustainability, practicing the ethos of the Theatre Green Book
