New College invites applications for the position of Recreation Coordinator. Essential functions of the position include: Creates and implements student-centric fitness, club sports, and outdoor recreation programming under the guidance of the Director of Waterfront and Campus Recreation. This may include teaching fitness classes/seminars/activities, refereeing/coaching/assisting club sports games/practices/events, and various other duties related to outdoor recreation activities including the Campus Waterfront Program. Schedules and supervises Recreation Center student staff/OPS Pool Tech, oversees aquatics/fitness/sports facilities safety/ scheduling/operation/ administration, routinely evaluates condition of and performs light maintenance on fitness/aquatics/sports equipment. Performs administrative tasks related to aquatics/fitness/sports facilities/program/staff management, interacts with campus partners/vendors/community in furtherance of job duties and goals. Serves on college committees as assigned, assists with other campus events as assigned. Maintains accurate and appropriate records and data on all programs, events, and campus activities. Supervises and trains Recreation Center student staff and OPS Pool Tech. Responsible for collection of membership and guest fees for the Recreation Center, keeping accurate receipts, making deposits. Employee performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to attending New College training and professional development programs such as required compliance training and safety training, as well as other programs that will assist them in the performance of their job responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within 6 months of hire. Experience in recreational programing such as fitness instruction, camp counseling, sports programming and/or other related experience. Preferred Qualifications A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, at least 1 years’ current nationally-recognized certification in group or individual fitness training, and recreational sports management. Currently certified CPR/AED/FA Instructor. Additional Information Physical Demands Ability to lift 45lbs, surface swim continuously 550 yards, tread water for 2 minutes, and swim 20 yards underwater.
