Position: Props/Stage Crew Member — 2026 Season

Opera in the Ozarks, now preparing for its 76th season, is a training program for aspiring opera singers located in beautiful Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The one-month season runs from mid-June to mid-July and includes three mainstage productions in repertory (7–8 performances each) and a smaller traveling Studio Artist production. The company comprises 40 vocal artists, supported by an artistic/administrative staff of 25 and a paid orchestra of 25.

Job Description
Opera in the Ozarks is seeking a Props/Stage Crew Member for its 2026 summer season.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Assist the Production Stage Manager with all pre-production work related to props
Acquire, maintain, and create props as directed, including building, off-site purchasing, and/or rental (may require off-campus travel)
Assist in rehearsals, set up backstage, work performances, participate in nightly changeovers, and perform other duties as needed
Work well under pressure and maintain a positive team spirit
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have:
Experience as a props person in live theatre
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly
A positive, creative, energetic, and reliable work ethic
Some leadership experience
(Preferred) Experience in opera and/or musicals

Compensation
$2,500 stipend
Private air-conditioned room with bathroom
Meals 7 days/week
Contract period: May 18 – July 25, 2026
Position is independent contractor status; no taxes withheld
