Description:

Description of the organism
Krasna is a theatre and performance company led by Manon Worms, writer and director. Based in Marseille, the company has been developing a community-based project there since 2020.

Named after a word that means both "red" and "beautiful" in several languages, Krasna seeks to bring brilliance and beauty to the stage and beyond, and to renew creative processes to foster encounters between artistic work, creative teams, and audiences. The company

's research focuses on the struggles related to gender practices and minority experiences, political struggles reworked through personal experience, and how writing, performance, and embodied expression can strengthen these connections. Krasna is determined to champion these struggles through intersectional activism. The shows are created collaboratively by artists from diverse artistic backgrounds, united by this shared commitment. They come to life both on and off stage, in collaboration with local associations, collectives, and institutions advocating for minority rights. Participatory workshops, artistic actions, shared rehearsals, and research labs open to multiple local artists are integrated into the creative projects, always through a common lens: opening up spaces for self-expression, exploring otherness within ourselves and with others, and experiencing how words intertwined with bodies can give strength, desire, and pride.

The company receives support for all its projects from the City of Marseille, the Sud Region, the Bouches-du-Rhône Department, and the DRAC PACA (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur).

Following the creation of Cœurs Fugitifs in 2020 (winner of the ARTCENA prize), the company is developing two new projects, culminating in 2024 and 2025:

Indestructible (winner of the SACD Theatre Fund prize), premiered in November 2024 at La Garance, the national stage in Cavaillon, and toured to the Théâtre de la Cité internationale and the Théâtre des Célestins in 2025; and
Arcanes, premiered in June 2025 at the Théâtre du Bordeau in Saint-Genis-Pouilly and presented as part of the J'Crains Dégun Festival at La Friche Belle de Mai; Les Salins, the national stage in Martigues; and at 3bisF in partnership with the Théâtre Antoine Vitez in Aix-en-Provence as part of the Festival Parallèle. This project received funding from the TRAVERSES network's Shared Co-production Fund.

Various shorter formats (staged readings, etc.) were presented at the Festival Parallèle and the Actoral Festival.

In addition to its core creative activity, the company develops partnerships with community and institutional organizations in the Marseille area for cultural initiatives (social centers, prisons, community health and prevention associations, support services for women victims of violence, socio-cultural mediation services, local employment centers, etc.), supported by the City of Marseille's Women's Rights and Anti-Discrimination Department, the DRAC PACA (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region), the ARS (Regional Health Agency), and various partner creative and distribution organizations. Seeking to foster connections with the social and healthcare sectors, the company has been an associate member of the Art, Care, Citizenship network since 2025, led by 3 bisf, an arts center located in the Montperrin Hospital in Aix-en-Provence; and participated in three editions of the J'Crains Dégun festival, organized by the associations Solidarité Femmes 13, CIDFF Phocéen, and Planning Familial 13, in 2022 and 2025. Co-organized the Aoziz of Inclusion intersectional queer festival in 2022 and 2023; participated in the Feminist Zone of Occupation at the Old Port with the Marseille 8 March committee in 2023.

The Krasna Company is committed to respecting the Ministry's Plan to Combat VHSS in live performance.
