The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO) is the leading symphony orchestra in Estonia, known for its vivid and versatile performances of traditional and contemporary symphonic music. We have a regular schedule of weekly concerts, performing with renowned conductors and soloists globally, and cooperating with acclaimed record companies. Customarily, we undertake 1-2 international tours yearly, plus multiple concerts across Estonia. ERSO musicians are encouraged to suggest and participate in chamber music programmes each season with fellow orchestra members and guest soloists. ERSO announces an audition for a PRINCIPAL FLUTE (substitute) (half-time temporary position, for season 2026/2027, starting August 2026, monthly remuneration 1267€ gross or 1685€ if social tax is not withheld). The audition will consist of two rounds: a video round and a stage round. An orchestral round may be added at the panel's discretion.

To apply, please send your application and CV (no official application forms provided) to [email protected], quoting reference “Flute”, by 26 April 2026 at the latest. Include a link to an uncut video recording of one of the following pieces: W. A. Mozart, Flute Concerto in G major, K.313: I movement (with cadenza), with piano accompaniment; OR W. A. Mozart, Flute Concerto in D major, K.314: I movement (with cadenza), with piano accompaniment. The video recording must be filmed with one camera, in one take, with the player facing the camera so that both hands and the instrument are fully visible throughout. Any post-processing of sound or picture is prohibited. The recording should be sent as a link to an unlisted YouTube video.

Invitations to the stage audition will be sent to selected candidates by 4 May 2026 at the latest, following the audition committee's review of the videos. The stage audition will be held on 5 June 2026 at 3 p.m. at the Estonia Concert Hall. Repertoire for the stage round:
I round: W. A. Mozart, Flute Concerto in G major, K.313: I movement (with cadenza); OR W. A. Mozart, Flute Concerto in D major, K.314: I movement (with cadenza).
II round: Orchestral excerpts. Orchestral excerpts for the stage round will be available from 4 May 2026. The stage audition will be a one-day event, with only live performances accepted. Please note that ENSO will not provide visa invitations or cover travel and other costs incurred by candidates.

Job details: Tutti rehearsals (4 hours daily) are normally held on working days, with concerts usually on Fridays. Annual paid leave amounts to 35 calendar days.
