Description:Full job descriptionIt's an exciting time to join The Phoenix Symphony performing arts as we celebrate our 78h season. As one of the greater Phoenix area’s most iconic institutions, we are seeking dynamic, outgoing, goal-oriented team members to join our team and help propel the Symphony into its next phase of artistic and organizational growth. Purpose of the Position: The Orchestra Personnel Assistant (OPA) performs essential personnel-related tasks as assigned and ensures that all working conditions are in compliance with the CBA. Essential Functions: With or without reasonable accommodation, and under general supervision, an employee must be able to perform the essential functions of this position, to include but are not limited to: · Ensure that the physical work environment for the orchestra is safe, conductive to music- making, and in compliance with the CBA. · Secure backstage area(s) for the safe placement of equipment and cases. · Confirm that the needs of conductors, guest artists, and orchestra musicians are met and communicated to staff members as needed. · Maintain a detailed roster and record attendance of musicians on stage at assigned services. · Communicate attendance information with Orchestra Personnel Manager, Librarian, and the Finance and HR team as necessary. · Assist with the coordination and day-of management of auditions · Assist HR with new member orientation and completion of required employment paperwork · Manage the ensembles during split orchestra weeks. · Synchronize rehearsal clock with all official clocks, time all breaks and rehearsal lengths, and provide five-minute calls at assigned services. Qualifications: Knowledge of theatrical terminology, stage setups, and concert productions Experience with symphony orchestra collective bargaining agreements preferred. Knowledge of orchestral repertoire is a plus. · Possess positive interpersonal skills · Excellent time management and follow through skills · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure · Work independently and as part of a team · Learn and utilize OPAS · Critical thinking in emergency situations Computer Skills · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and online file-sharing platforms such as Google (drive, sheets, docs). Experience/Education: · Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of one (1) year of experience in technical theater, Theater Music, Music Business or Arts Administration. Working Conditions/Physical Demands · Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. · Exposure to loud noise. · May be required to perform tasks at varying heights, e.g., using stools, step ladders, stairs. · Extended time seated while working at a computer.
