Join a prominent entertainment production company as a Lead Aerial Systems Technician. This pivotal role involves overseeing the secure and efficient operation of all flying and rigging apparatus within an onboard performance venue. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will be responsible for the meticulous setup and execution of show tracks for all rigging systems, conducting thorough inspections, and resolving equipment issues. Responsibilities also include active participation in venue sets and strikes, and providing essential support to performers with harnesses and rigging during live shows. We are seeking a highly experienced professional in theatrical or entertainment rigging, particularly with performer flying and rigging systems in circus, Cirque, or other aerialist contexts. Candidates must have a strong background in rigging, safety protocols, detailed inspections, and maintenance reporting. Daily duties include assisting with pre-checks of all flying equipment—such as motors, winches, cables, hardware, and harnesses—while strictly adhering to reporting procedures. The ability to troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions is essential. Familiarity with TAIT automation systems is a significant advantage. During performances, you will assist artists with harnesses, secure rigging points, call flight clearances, and perform spotting duties. Post-show responsibilities involve safely powering down all automation equipment and contributing to nightly reports. Effective communication with the Technical Director, Production Stage Manager, cast, technicians, and onboard maintenance teams is crucial. This role also serves as a swing/cover for other entertainment technicians, requiring experience in additional technical domains like audio, lighting, and video. You will also contribute to overall production needs as requested. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in rigging and performer flying, an impeccable safety record, excellent communication, and strong time management skills. A Bachelor’s degree in theatre (production or technical) or a minimum of three years of relevant field experience is required. Essential operational knowledge includes rigging, sound, lighting, video, and automation equipment. While cruise line or touring experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory. Candidates must maintain a positive attitude, perform effectively under pressure, and consistently meet daily objectives. Seamless communication across various onboard departments and an understanding of the entertainment team's integration into the broader operation are crucial. This role involves working six days per week for contracts up to eight months, requiring comfort with living and collaborating closely with colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, working at heights, and consistently lifting up to 75 pounds. Applicants must learn and comply with all onboard safety regulations, successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening (including vaccination requirements), and possess a valid passport for the entire contract duration plus an additional six months. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination plus booster is required for boarding. In return, comprehensive onboard (crossover) training is provided, along with food and lodging in a double occupancy cabin.
