Lighting Supervisor
Skylight Music Theatre – 2025-2026 Season

FUNCTION:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the administrative and production functions of the Lighting Department for Skylight Music Theatre’s 2025–2026 Season.

Also responsible for the lighting needs of Broadway Theatre Center (BTC) events.

Contract Details:

Salary: $800 per week (non-exempt, benefit-eligible position)

Dates: September 1, 2025 – May 3, 2026

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead all lighting needs for Cabot Theatre productions, including the testing, maintenance, and upkeep of lighting, projection, and sound equipment.

Oversee installs and technical rehearsals for all Skylight productions.

Prepare and install equipment based on plots and designer specifications (e.g. tech table set-up, headsets, video monitors, god mic).

Collaborate on show-related lighting paperwork; maintain neat and accurate records and archive all documentation post-show.

Ensure proper upkeep of lighting for all BTC and Skylight Music Theatre productions, events, and rentals.

Supervise the Studio Theatre Lighting/Audio Supervisor alongside the Skylight Audio/Video Supervisor.

Act as Lighting Supervisor for Studio Theatre events as needed, or assist in scheduling overhire technicians.

Serve as the primary Light Board Operator for all Skylight events in the Cabot Theatre.

Participate in stage crew work, load-ins, strikes, and changeovers as assigned in both Cabot and Studio Theatres.

Ensure proper shut-down of all lighting, effects, and electrical equipment, securing all gear and maintaining safe conditions.

Assist other production departments as needed, based on scheduling availability.

Help coordinate scheduling of the Swing Technician to support all production departments throughout the season.

Attend all necessary meetings including production, feasibility, notes, department, and staff meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director of Production & Facilities.

SKILLS AND TRAINING:

BA/BFA in theatre or equivalent professional experience in technical theatre (e.g. stagecraft, electrics, rigging, video/projections, sound).

Proficiency with industry-standard tools and software: ETC EOS Systems, QLab, Vectorworks, Lightwright.

ETC Level 2 training required; Level 3 and Augmented preferred.

Comfortable in both Mac and Windows environments; able to multitask and prioritize across administrative and physical tasks.

Strong verbal and written communication, organizational skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Able to climb ladders and work at heights.

Must have sufficient vision, hearing, and dexterity to work safely with hand and power tools, stage rigging, and detailed work.

This role includes irregular hours, including regular evening and weekend shifts.
