JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Lighting Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Director of Production
JOB TYPE: Full time with hours worked as needed to meet production goals. Based on the production calendar must be able to work irregular hours, evening hours, long hours and weekend shifts. DESCRIPTION: The Lighting Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the implementation, maintenance, and removal of all lighting designs for productions and events at Riverside Theatre.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Maintain positive attitude, possess strong leadership skills, high level of organizational, communication, problem solving skills, ability to work well in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Experience in all phases of lighting design, electrics procedures and codes. Knowledge of current lighting technology: moving lights, wireless systems, dimming and power distribution.
- Proficient in programming ETC Eos family consoles.
- Competency utilizing computer software: Lightwright, Vectorworks, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge and maintenance skills of theatrical atmospheric effects.
- Knowledge pf theatrical rigging and rigging systems.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and able to work from heights (catwalks, grids, Genie lifts, etc).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Uphold the Core Values of Riverside Theatre.
- Manage, direct and work with the Electrics department staff.
- Provide maintenance for all lighting designs for each show or event. Create and hang working plot, as assigned.
- Manage department expenses.
- Take stock of, order and received needed gel, lamps, instruments, accessories, specials and paperwork prior to light hang.
- Oversee and manage the hang, layout and focus of all lighting for each production or event.
- Inspect and repair lighting equipment as needed.
- Organize and maintain lighting inventory, including equipment accessories such as conventionals, foggers, hazers, LED fixtures, moving lights and other DMX equipment.
- Ensure that all electrics areas are cleaned regularly.
- Work with Director of Production, directors and designers to ensure quality of work.
- Collaborate with Technical Director on realizing electrical needs for Riverside productions.
- Serve as Lighting Designer on children's theatre productions and special events when designer is not assigned.
- Uphold safety protocols, provide safety training for electrics staff and participate in all required training; advise Production Manager of any safety concerns and remediation.
- Provide needed work lights and cue lights for build crews, run crews and stage management.
- Serve as technician for other projects, outside events, Comedy Zone and Howl at the Moon events as assigned by Director of Production.
- Read rehearsal and performance reports and respond to any reported problems and be readily available for any troubleshooting.
- Attend meetings, rehearsals and events as needed.
- Attend all strike calls and assist as needed.
