PRIMARY ROLE
The Lead Scenic Artist is a key creative and technical role responsible for delivering exceptional scenic finishes that uphold the high level for which 3dx is known. This position requires a deep understanding of theatrical paint methodologies and the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
Working closely with the Charge Scenic Artist, the Lead Scenic Artist will interpret renderings, develop samples, and execute a broad range of faux finishes, ensuring each project aligns with client expectations and production specifications. The ideal candidate brings an analytical mindset, excellent organizational and time management skills, and a critical eye for both detail and aesthetics.
In addition to hands-on artistry, this role involves coordinating workflow within the Paint Shop, assigning tasks to fellow Scenic Artists, maintaining safety and quality standards, and managing materials and resources efficiently. The Lead Scenic Artist plays a vital part in ensuring that every project; whether on-site or in the shop's exceeds client expectations while reinforcing 3dx Scenic reputation for creative excellence and reliability.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
+Prepare and execute varied faux finish treatments alongside other Scenic Artists.
+Collaborate with the Charge Scenic Artist to interpret renderings and develop high-quality samples.
+Coordinate workflow with other departments and assign tasks to other Scenic Artists to meet production standards and deadlines.
+Adhere to all Quality Control and Paint Shop standard operating procedures.
+Procure scenic art materials and maintain inventory in coordination with the Charge Scenic Artist and Administrative Director.
+Participate in production meetings as required.
+Mix + match colors from existing formulas and developing and cataloging new color recipes.
+Maintain the safety, order, and cleanliness of all worksite areas and equipment
+Travel occasionally for on-site installations.
+Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
+Strong knowledge of faux finishing, stenciling, color mixing, layout, and scaling.
+Prior experience in a professional scenic shop, event fabrication facility or equivalent.
+Proficiency with HVLP spray guns, airbrushes, + other standard painting tools.
+Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and personnel effectively.
+Strong teamwork and communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively to achieve a cohesive result.
+Participation in the Respiratory Protection Program and adherence to all Safety and PPE requirements.

+Standing and walking on concrete
+Use of hands and fingers
+Ability to withstand a shop environment with minimal climate control and moderate noise levels
