Description:

Applications are currently being accepted for the 13th edition of a distinguished international choreography competition. This event is dedicated to fostering contemporary dance creation across all styles and techniques. The prestigious competition will take place in Extremadura, Spain, at Espacio Cinético TaKtá in Navalmoral de la Mata, Cáceres, on October 23–24, 2026. Organized by a renowned resident dance company, the competition champions innovative choreographic works from a contemporary perspective, welcoming choreographers of any nationality. Submissions should feature pieces between 10 and 15 minutes in duration. Live musical accompaniment is permitted, with a limit of two musicians utilizing easily transportable instruments. From the pool of applicants, a discerning Selection Panel will choose three works to advance directly to the Grand Final on October 24, 2026. Additionally, five works will be selected to compete in a preliminary round held on October 23. From this preliminary stage, two further works will earn a spot in the Final—one chosen by the esteemed Jury and another by audience vote—culminating in a total of five finalist pieces. The Grand Final, featuring these five exceptional works, will take place on October 24, 2026. Competitors vie for significant accolades, including a First Prize of €5,000. The judging panel will comprise national and international luminaries and experts from the performing arts field. Works will be evaluated based on their originality, inventiveness, innovation, artistic risk, the masterful execution of choreographic concepts, command of dance language, and the effective utilization of performance elements.
