SYLVIA is looking for a Head of Wardrobe for our 7 week UK Tour in Autumn 2026, including 5 performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Job Description
THE ROLE
The Head of Sound will be the Head of Sound for the show and will mix the majority of performances. The Sound Department will consist of a Head of Sound and Deputy Head of Sound, supported by a Tech Swing. The engagement will be from 17 August - 15 November 2026.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operating the sound mix for performances as instructed by the Sound Designer, to ensure the Sound Designer's original specification and sound of the production is maintained.
Running pre-show sound checks.
Lead the Sound Department during fit-ups and load-outs, in collaboration with Production staff.
Being responsible for all aspects of the planning and maintenance of all sound equipment so this may be scheduled to ensure no show delays.
Learning, teaching and operating all tracks within the department.
Working collaboratively as a department with other technical departments, stage management, the acting company, resident creative team members and venues to ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show.
Liaising with the Company Manager/creative team regarding any daily cast changes and preparing the relevant departmental adjustments accordingly.
Coordinating the supply of all equipment and consumables required to run the show within budget as approved by the Company/General Manager.
Keeping all sound reference/cue sheets up to date.
Being present for rehearsals, technical rehearsals and show calls as required.
Dealing with emergency repairs and fixes to sound equipment and programming.
Ensuring that work materials and sound equipment are kept in a tidy and secured manner.
Ensuring that security, safety and good housekeeping procedures for the department are properly carried out.
Complying with the Manager's Health and Safety and other policies at all times and ensuring departmental staff do the same.
Contributing and adhering to risk assessments.
Job Requirements
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience as a Head of Sound on a large-scale musical, including operating and mixing live shows and fitting radio mics.
Good working knowledge of sound equipment.
A good working of Health & Safety legislation.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and organise teams.
Flexible, proactive, and self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively with artists and staff.
A calm and practical approach to technical troubleshooting.
Ability to work under pressure.
A desire to work in and uphold an actively anti-racist and inclusive working environment.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
