Job Description
We are seeking talented and dedicated freelance performers; keen to work in and create a fun, stimulating environment with children. We have a number of exciting projects approaching and would like to increase the pool of drama facilitators we work with. Our freelancers will creatively cultivate the core skills of the children in relation to the National Curriculum.
This role is ideal for candidates who already have experience in immersive theatre in education and emerging artists who want to develop their practice in this context; we will provide relevant training for the right candidates.
Role
Role: Freelance Performer
Reporting to: Artistic Director/Associate Directors
Key Relationships: Senior Producer, Administrator & Assistant Producer.
Start date: Autumn 2024
Location: KIT HQ is currently based in London, but performance days will take place in schools in London or Thurrock primarily (locations agreed with performers in advance). Some travel outside of the M25 will be required (travel and accommodation outside of London paid for by the company in line with ITC recommendations).
Fee: KIT typically pays £135 per day for rehearsals, and between £135-£150 for delivery of projects dependent on locations.
Job Requirements
Essential skills and experience
Experience performing in front of an audience (e.g. acting, public speaking etc)
Interest in using immersive theatre techniques to excite and engage children
Desirable skills and experience
Experience of working with teachers and schools.
Experience of facilitation, particularly with primary aged children.
If offered the role, an Enhanced Disclosure form will be required (paid for by the company).
