Job Description
Having made our televised BBC Proms debut with two concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in August 2024, Fantasia Orchestra is at an exceptionally exciting moment in its journey.
With project-based, multi-genre programming at the heart of its artistic life, Fantasia frequently collaborates with top international soloists and has developed a busy schedule at venues and festivals across the country.
At this seminal moment in our history, we are delighted to announce the newly-created role of Executive Director, and are looking for an outstanding person to join our team.
Working alongside the Artistic Director, you will have responsibility for steering and shaping the growth of this young, fresh, and nimble organisation. You will realise our artistic vision, and will lead Fantasia into the next stage of our remarkable story.

Working hours & location:
- this is a part time role, working two days a week on average
- the days may be worked flexibly across the week if desired (eg split into half-days)
- this is a freelance role; remuneration will be £250-280/day depending on experience
- the Executive Director will be have a consultancy agreement with Fantasia Orchestra
- working will be remote; however, the ability to travel as required to London and to venues outside the capital is essential
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- is excited at the prospect of developing a young organisation which is rich in potential and is growing in reputation
- will enjoy ensuring the continued financial and operational smooth-running of Fantasia Orchestra, in turn allowing the charitable aims of the organisation to flourish
- will be an energetic and powerful advocate of Fantasia Orchestra - has a love of music and the arts
- will enjoy an all-encompassing role, working in a practical and hands-on way with a small team
Essential skills and experience:
- experience of working in orchestral management
- experience of financial planning and budgeting - experience of devising a fundraising strategy
- excellent written and oral communication
- ability to lead a small team
- ability to negotiate effectively
- strong computer literacy
Desired skills and experience:
- experience of bookkeeping
- experience of charitable processes and reporting
Job Responsibilities
Strategy:
- work alongside the Artistic Director to realise Fantasia Orchestra's artistic vision across the concert season, and plan future ones
- responsible for shaping and developing Fantasia's growth, including developing relationships with concert presenters to bring in new engagements
- responsible for the development and implementation of Fantasia's fundraising strategy
- steer and approve strategy and approach in the departments of concert production, communications, and press/PR
Finance:
- responsible for the sound financial operation of Fantasia Orchestra - create annual and project budgets
Fundraising:
- responsible for the fundraising strategy of Fantasia Orchestra, with a focus on developing new income streams
Operations:
- responsible for the operations of Fantasia Orchestra
General:
- be a compelling ambassador for Fantasia Orchestra in the world
- develop strong relationships with key Fantasia stakeholders
