An esteemed theatrical production house is seeking talented Equity actors for the world premiere of a captivating docu-musical, slated for its highly anticipated 2027 season. Titled 'The Day the Circus Came to Town,' this groundbreaking production commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus's historic move to Sarasota. Inspired by extensive interviews with living legends from Sarasota’s vibrant Circus Community, this musical serves as a heartfelt tribute to generations of extraordinary circus artists. The narrative invites audiences behind the curtain to explore the back lot, clown alley, the unique life on the road, and the thrill of performing in the 'Greatest Show on Earth.' The production will feature a dynamic ensemble of actors, acrobats, aerialists, and a charismatic singing Ringmaster, all accompanied by a live Circus Band. This piece is a love letter to Sarasota and its foundational industry, promising to evoke the wonder of childhood. This is a LORT Non-Rep engagement, offering competitive weekly minimums of $1213 (LORT B) or $889 (LORT D). Audition Details:
An audition break is scheduled from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Please note that understudies will be cast for most roles, excluding minor bit parts. Preparation Requirements:
For those auditioning for plays, prepare two contrasting monologues with a combined total not exceeding two minutes. For musical auditions, prepare either a brief song selection or 16 bars of a song, in addition to a one-minute contemporary monologue. An accompanist will be provided.
