From 7th December 2025 to 4th January 2026, JW3 will be staging CINDERELLA AND THE MATZO BALL. Produced by JW3 and Plotnek Productions, our panto is now in its 3rd year - our first two having been nominated for 3 Offies and 1 UK Panto Award!
Job Description
TYPE & LENGTH: Freelance, 10 November 2025 - 6 January 2026
HOURS: Variable, but expectation is 5 days a week during rehearsal period, then followed by 10 shows per week (show times will vary); there will be a show on Christmas Day so availability on this date is a key requirement. Potential for need to support on get-out dates (5th and 6th January).
RATE OF PAY: £665 per week (+ relevant holiday payment)
DUTIES:
Produce prompt copy and act as DSM for the show
Ensure rehearsal room is set up appropriately with any props, set or costume as required
Support the Company Stage Manager with scheduling and operational planning.
Update any changes to rehearsal script and distribute to the team
Track changes to props, costumes and any technical elements as they develop
Produce daily rehearsal and show reports and distribute to the team
Act as a key liaison, keeping all creative and technical departments informed of changes to blocking, cues, or performance requirements.
Operate lighting for the shows
Operate QLab for the rehearsals and show
Ensuring that performances run smoothly and handling any problems that occur, reporting to the Company Stage Manager where appropriate
Liaise with the director, stage personnel and other technical departments, such as costume, lighting and sound
Liaise with rehearsal venues and ensure that the rehearsal room is set up and packed up appropriately
Working with the production manager, identify risks for the company and audience and produce risk assessments for rehearsals and shows. Taking responsibility for communicating these with the stage management team and wider company
Job Requirements
Self-motivated, proactive and energetic, with the ability to work well with performers and other theatre staff.
A calm and practical approach to technical trouble-shooting.
Ability to work under pressure.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Experience of working on panto or similar productions
