Seeking freelance crew chief/stage managers to supervise and run events at a university performing arts center in Wayne, NJ. Candidates should have excellent people skills and be knowledgeable in sound, lights and general stagecraft. Successful candidates will lead the crew from load in through strike and be able to "call" a simple show. The crew to be supervised includes freelance professionals, experienced student workers and "newbie" student workers.
Events are primarily concerts with professional touring artists and student/faculty performances. Genres include jazz, rock, pop, nostalgia and classical.
The primary venue is the 900 seat Shea Center for Performing Arts which is well equipped with an excellent sound system and combination of LED, traditional and moving light fixtures. We strive for a friendly, fun and inclusive atmosphere while maintaining a high level of professionalism
Hours vary with the schedule. Candidates are also welcome to work as a technician when another crew chief is running that call. Note that access to a vehicle is required as public transit options are limited.
