General Description:

Tulsa Ballet is looking for a highly motivated, organized, creative individual to oversee all aspects of Wardrobe for Tulsa Ballet and Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education productions, events, marketing needs, and others. This position works closely with the Artistic Director, Costume Shop Manager, Artistic Staff, Guest Designers, and other Department Heads to create and maintain the high standards of excellence that has come to be expected at Tulsa Ballet.

Responsibilities including but not limited to:

Responsible, under the supervision of the Director of Production, and in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Artistic Staff, for the overall look and aesthetics of Tulsa Ballet+rsquo;s productions.

Overseeing multiple budgets ranging from yearly maintenance to show specific with the ability to foresee any overages, how to correct them, and provide updates to Director of Production.

Overseeing the shop calendar with the ability to determine and overcome obstacles that may arise to keep the shop moving in a forward direction.

Acting as the liaison between other Departments and Wardrobe for needs and scheduling.

Overseeing the build of new works, including fabric selection, construction details, deadlines, calendar dates, makeup and hair, shoes, and other as needed.

Overseeing the wardrobe rentals for both incoming and outgoing productions.

Assist and when needed to create/design options for the Center for Dance Education (CDE) with needs for their different programs such as End of Year performances and Youth Intensives.

Purchasing, styling, upkeep, and at times creating wigs, hair pieces, falls, etc. for productions

Purchasing and upkeeping shoe stock including various styles of character heels, jazz shoes, dance boots and other specialty shoes. This includes but is not limited to cobble work, painting, stretching, resoling.

With the help of Artistic and Designers creating makeup and hair plots for dancers to follow.

Sourcing and purchasing of all materials in a timely manner so as not to disrupt the forward momentum of the shop.

With the help of Artistic scheduling and enforcing a fitting schedule for each rehearsal day.

Overseeing fittings and creating photo references of fittings to be shared with Artistic, Choreographer, and Designer of the piece.

Working closely with the Wardrobe Supervisor to create show inventories, piece lists, run sheets and laundry care.

Working closely with the Director of Development to oversee the volunteer workers in the shop and the volunteer dressers.

Assesses needs for hires, supervises and organizes work force needed to achieve successful completion of alterations and construction of costumes for all Tulsa Ballet+rsquo;s productions.

Attending dress rehearsals and performances includes being wardrobe when needed on larger productions.

Overseeing all wardrobe touring aspects including but not limited set ups of tour spaces, union/non-union work calls, crew assignments, shipping/travel of the costumes, etc.

Setting up in a timely manner the upkeep and replacement of the necessary machinery to keep the shop moving in a forward direction.

Requirements:

MA or MFA in Costume Technology or other matching areas, or equivalent management experience of 5 years in a Professional Costume Shop.

Minimum of 2 years Director/Manager of a Professional Costume Shop.

Cobbler experience: ranging from leather, ballroom, ballet, character.

Wig experience: including building, styling, coloring and upkeep.

Minimum of 2 years of Draping/Patternmaking experience.

Minimum of 5 years of Costume Construction Experience.

Minimum of 2 years of Wardrobe/Show Run experience.

Ability to work on both Domestic and Industrial machines.

Costume Craft Experience: including dye work of all fabric types, painting, EVA Foam, woodwork, jeweling, mask making, and mascot repair.

Valid U.S. Driver+rsquo;s License

Passport and ability to travel to other countries for tours.

Reliable transportation to move between our multiple locations.

Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

Ability to use both a Mac and Windows and to seamlessly float between the two.

Proficiency in Excel, Word, Google Docs, Photoshop, and PowerPoint.

Able to lift 50lbs

Ability to go up and down multiple flights of stairs while carrying costumes.

The ability to make rapid informed decisions in the moment which are both beneficial to the shop and to the company.

Tulsa Ballet, one of the top ballet companies in the country, is a fast-paced, exciting environment which can at times be stressful, but the pay out of seeing the dancers onstage is glorious.
